Nerin Kelly had an opportunity to take over Saunders Beach Bistro and Pizzeria in August 2020 before they shut the doors for good. She took on the massive learning challenge which became an enjoyable experience where she has learned many new skills.

Saunders Beach is made up of a small community of 400 people who actively engage with local businesses where everyone helps one another out. From locals coming by for a feed or a drink in the afternoon to travelers who are passing by to stop in for something to eat and a walk along the beach. Recently Saunders Beach Bistro and Pizzeria has seen residents from Bushland Beach coming out to eat and I highly recommend other members of Townsville to visit and grab a bite to eat.

As the owner of Saunders Beach Bistro and Pizzeria, Nerin typically finds herself in the kitchen cooking delicious meals. As they are far out, she often runs into the shops to grab food and prep for the nighttime during the day while jiggling all the paperwork in between.

While it's not only an excellent restaurant for the family, it is also run by a family business where Nerin often has her three kids coming in to help out and work along with her mum and best friend.

While Nerin has gone through some personal challenges, the biggest challenge of them all has been operating during COVID like every other hospitality is facing. To the members of Townsville, if you are free one weekend I can't recommend enough heading out to Saunders Beach and visiting. Whether you go there for lunch and a walk along the beach or dinner one night, it is all about supporting each other in Townsville. Don't forget to call up and book prior to secure a spot to eat.
